What To Expect
Choosing a clinic
Each clinic and provider is unique; finding what fits you is important. MySelfMyHealth.org is your guide to learn more about the clinics and find the perfect location that's right for you.
Making an appointment
After you pick a clinic, give them a call or schedule online, and they’ll help you make an appointment. Feeling a bit anxious about your first visit for sexual health services is totally ok – everyone goes through it! These clinics are super supportive and will guide you through the whole process. If you’re not sure about the type of appointment you need, just ask!
What questions should I ask?
- What am I getting tested for?
- How do I get birth control?
- How do I know if I’m pregnant?
- What can I do to protect myself from an STD/STI?
Cost
Every clinic here is dedicated to making sure you can afford the care you need. Some offer free services or offer sliding fee scales and payment plans. If you’re considering birth control, most clinics can enroll you in the Minnesota Family Planning Program (MFPP), a special program that covers your birth control services. Don’t forget to ask about it!
Using private insurance through your parents may cover some or all costs, but keep in mind that it may not be entirely confidential. If you are unsure, just ask! When you call to schedule your appointment, ask upfront about payments, privacy, and all available options.
Remember, taking care of yourself by visiting a clinic is something to be proud of! Feel good about it – you’re making a positive step towards your well-being.
